6,372 ft of White 6-Inch Gutter Replacing 5-Inch Across a Townhome Community – Atlanta
Atlanta, GA
Description
Urban Seamless Gutters ATL replaced the gutters across a townhome community in Atlanta, GA (30307). We took down 6,372 feet of old 5-inch gutter, replaced the rotted fascia we found behind it, and hung 6,372 feet of 6-inch K-style gutter formed on site from heavy-duty .032-gauge aluminum in white, in the same locations and tied into the existing downspouts.
The Challenge
A job this size covers a lot of roofline: four different building styles spread across the community (the satellite views mark them A through D), three-story townhome walls, standing-seam metal porch roofs, valleys and steep pitches, and corners all through the community. Every run had to come down and go back up in its original location, and the new gutter had to connect to downspouts that were staying in place. Once the old gutters came off, the fascia behind them had rotted in places: split boards, soft wood, and spots where the rot had eaten clean through, at the corners and along the runs.
Our Solution
We removed all 6,372 feet of the old 5-inch system and hauled it away. Before any new gutter went up, we replaced the rotted fascia and painted it white, so every hanger would screw into solid wood. Then we formed 6,372 feet of 6-inch K-style gutter on site and hung it on about 4,000 hidden hangers, which screw into the fascia from inside the gutter and hold far better than spikes. The rooflines took 202 fabricated miters, 176 splash guards where valleys and steep pitches send water toward the corners, 190 end-cap sets, and 328 oval outlets tying the new gutter into the existing downspouts, all sealed with GeoCel 2320. Much of the work was three stories up, which carries a height premium for the extra safety gear and setup. The 6-inch gutter carries considerably more water than the old 5-inch system.
