Slow-Draining Rear Gutter Cleared and Resealed Under Guards – Alpharetta
Alpharetta, GA
Description
Urban Seamless Gutters ATL serviced one gutter run on a home in Alpharetta, GA: the rear-right section, which wasn’t draining. We took the gutter guards off that run, cleaned the inside of the gutter, cleared the downspout, resealed the corner miter, end caps and outlet seam with GeoCel gutter silicone, checked the pitch with a level, and put the guards back on.
The Challenge
Water was sitting in the rear-right gutter instead of running to the downspout. Under the guards, the trough had filled with wet leaf sludge and shingle granules. Guards keep most leaves out, but pine needles, fine debris and roof grit still work their way in and settle where the gutter runs flattest. The seam at the inside corner had also opened up enough to let water through onto the trim below.
Our Solution
We lifted the guards on that run, cleaned the gutter by hand with light air blowing, and cleared the downspout. With the metal clean, we resealed the corner miter, the end caps and the outlet seam with GeoCel gutter silicone, re-secured loose sections, and set a level along the run to check that it pitches toward the outlet. The guards went back on and all the debris was hauled away. The rest of the system didn’t need the visit, so the job stayed to the one section.
